Dexter Season 3 Premiere Review
We all know Dexter- America’s Favorite Serial Killer. This show was one of Showtime’s top sellers for 2 seasons straight.
While Season 3 premieres on September 28th, we got a sneak-peek at the first episode. And we have to say – it’s amazing.
Read no further if you want to get totally spoiled.
The core plot for this season is that Dexter has made his first spontaneous kill. He was tracking a drug dealer who killed 2 college students – prepared his “ritual” place and was on his way for the victim. But as he entered the house, he saw another guy trying to stab the dealer. Exposed, he was seen by the unknown witness who attacked Dexter. But being the friendly neighborhood killer that he is, Dexter stabbed this guy back, resulting in a spontaneous non-planned kill.
Here’s a rolldown of what happens
- Dexter gets some oral hygiene
- Dexter gets laid with Rita and thinks that he has a “normal life”
- Dexter searches for a guy to kill for his dads birthday. Finds a guy named Freebo who got away with killing 2 girls
- Dexter pretends to be a nice guy with his donut ritual at the department
“Better than Sex” – Masuka
- Deb changes her hairstyle, invites Dex over to their bar for drinks to celebrate their dad’s Birthday
- Batista gets promoted, becomes Deb’s boss.
- Drinks are on Batista.
- Dex gets a look around Freebo’s hood, pretends to be a junkie to get into the drug dealer’s house. Dex is good in pretending to be a junkie.
- Gets inside the house, sees some Wii action.
- Freebo tells his girlfriend to f off.
“I’m entirely confident you can be repurposed as fish food” – Dexter.
- Dexter makes up a nice ritual room.
- Deb gets harassed by an internal affairs agent
“You don’t get to blow me off and still ask questions” – agent
- Dex arrives at his preys house during the night.
“Loud music, the cover of evil. Perfect” – Dexter
- Dex sneaks into the house when he sees Freebo struggling with some other guy who wants to stab him. Dex interferes, Freebo runs, Dex kills the unknown guy.
- Dex loses his crown that he got from the dentist. Couldn’t find it and fled the scene. Packed up his stuff from the ritual scene and went home.
“… Something spontaneous. Who did I just kill?”
- Yet another love scene with Rita. We finally get to see her boobies. But Dex is on the nerves waiting for a phone call.
“Who called? It’s 3 a.m. in the morning” – Rita
“Not in India” – Dexter. Lmao.
- Dexter arrives at the scene next morning. Gets called by Batista who asks how long will it take Dex to get to the crime scene. “30 minutes” – Dexter.
- It turns out that the guy is a younger brother of some big guy Prosecutor who wants to get rid of all crime in Florida.
- Dex is amazingly tense.
- On a meeting at the HQ everyone decides that Freebo killed Oscar (that’s what the guys name was)
“It was a close and furious battle. Whoever did this was really good at handling a blade” – Masuka
“If Freebo did this he’s not in Miami” – some guy that hits on Deb.
- Dex looks up info on Oscar, snooping if he was guilty of anything.
- Dex goes to Cody’s school, explains how blood spatter analytics work with strings.
“Do you save lives?” – little girl
- Dex starts thinking about how Cody moves on with the fact that he doesn’t have a father.
- The prosecutor calls Dex to the crime scene. Asks to “tell the story” of how it happened.
“So now I know how he died. The question is why. Why would a blood spatter analyst be snooping around the federal database for information on my dead brother”? – Ooo, busted. But Dexter fixed the situation with the “this death got to me” bit.
- In the department, Deb tells everyone that Oscar was a junkie, with his brother standing behind her. Talk about awkward.
- Dexter attends Oscar’s funeral. Awkwaaarddd.
- Meanwhile Deb drinks Cranberry juice alone at the bar when Batista comes in and tells her she’s off the case.
- Dex gets laid. Again. What’s up with Rita?
- Dex gets called out to a crime scene. Some very nice glitches with his neckstrap being upside down in one scene and down side up in the other. Good product placement Nikon, very good.
- Turns out the killed girl on the crime scene is Freebo’s ex-girlfriend whom Dex saw at his house.
- And when Dex gets to Rita’s house, she’s making pudding.
“Omg, I’m pregnant!”
