Debut Album From Matt Cardle Due
The much anticipated debut album from Matt Cardle, Letters, is released in the UK on October 14, 2011. It's lead off single will be Run For Your Life, a song written by Gary Barlow, which Cardle will perform on the latest series of The X Factor. It is due to hit shops on October 10, although iTunes shows an expected date of October 7.
The rest of the tracks, bar last year's Christmas Number One song When We Collide, have either been written by Cardle himself or as collaborator.
It seems that his voice is now smoother than we were used to last year, although thankfully, his signature falsetto remains intact. The album appears to be an emotional ride for Matt Cardle, who lays bare both weaknesses and shortcomings within relationships. The sound is mostly guitar driven with ample helpings of strings. Cardle himself has expressed that the structure of the tracks are evocative of both Coldplay and "reminiscent of Snow Patrol's biggest hits".
These connections bode well for Matt Cardle, and with the added TV exposure that The X Factor will offer, expect a leap into the UK music charts by both the album and the single.
