They Told You To Run

They Told You To Run

Running forever into an empty void
Of loneliness and darkness.
Was it the right way to run?
Why did so many tell you to go,
Tell you to run to a place that would hurt,
To a place that would leave you empty,
Sad, lonely?
They did it because they cared
They said they cared
That was the belief to believe in.
It felt right.
It felt best.
There was so much to gain.
There was so much to lose.
But was the loss worth the gain?
Why if it was right, would it hurt?
Was it right?
They told you to run.
They told you to hide.
They told you to go to a place
Where darkness and silence would envelope you.
Where loneliness would become your only friend.
Where solitude is your only retreat.
Why did you run?
Why did you let them tell you to run?
