Crowd sparks Hollywood riot during screening of Electric Daisy Carnival Experience
A movie screening turned into a scene out of a Hollywood blockbuster Wednesday after a near riot broke out outside Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, police said. An estimated 2,000 people flooded Hollywood Blvd. near the famed movie house to attend an impromptu party outside the screening of a documentary about the Electric Daisy Carnival rave, according to authorities. “There were people trampling all over the police cars, smashing the windows,” said Greg Magda, who works at a coffee shop on Hollywood Boulevard. Witnesses said people were dancing on police cars and throwing bottles at cops, the Los Angeles Times reported. “I knew it was going to get out of hand when they started taunting the police,” Adam Bloch, 20, who works across from the theater, told the newspaper. “They were asking for it.” Police donned riot gear and fired nonlethal bean bags at the crowd to disperse it, the LA Times reported.
