Corporate Comedian – A Lesson in Self Promotion
I’ve been studying how to create an effective online resume site to promote a personal service, consulting business or entertainment business. In that vane, here is a well done site promoting corporate comedian Tom Crowl.
To get the most out of this analysis you’ll want to visit Tom’s site here: http://www.comedyventriloquist.com and follow along.
Tom Crowl is a DC area based corporate comedian and comedy ventriloquist. He has a very effective web presence that includes the following outstanding features:
- Strong bold colors on his site immediately attract the reader and Tom himself is looking right at you with a box of props.
- Tom’s Contact Info is above the fold and down near the footer. No need to hunt for Tom’s phone number.
- Liberal use of client testimonials inspires confidence.
- Homepage, above the fold video showcases Tom Crowl’s product – entertainment and laughter.
- Links to case studies that further explain the benefits of using Tom’s services enforce the value provided.
Less obvious but fantastic design features include:
- All the links on the page have good SEO’d names like “Corporate Entertainment”, “Corporate Event Agencies and Planners”.
- A “free product” offer sign up form that builds a good targeted list for email marketing
- A good keyword rich blog provides fresh content to the search engines
The only thing that surprises me is the site is not funnier – it’s all business – but it does inspire confidence. I think this was a good choice though because the market (event planners) are looking for results and confidence, not a laugh while looking for an entertainer.
A great site with lots of ideas worth adapting to your situation as a consultant, entertainer or job seeker. I’d hire Tom Crowl for my corporate event in a second. If you had a site like Tom’s would it improve your chances of getting work?
