In what's being billed as her first interview in two years (was two long years ago), Britney lets the magazine into her Beverly Hills, Calif home to talk about sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, whose dad, , now has primary custody; her 17-year-old sister Jamie Lynn becoming a mom; and her career plans.(Via Hotgossip)
Now, as excited cries of "Britney's back!" grow louder thanks to her recent and winningly giggly promos for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards (the site of yet another run-off-the-rails moment in 2007), the on-the-mend but still closely supervised popster once again tops the cover of OK!, only this time the spin is decidedly positive.
"I'm healthy, happy and excited about the future," enthuses the white sundress-clad paparazzi magnet, who says she's hard at work on her "more urban" new album, which she predicts will be released in "the next six to nine months."
"I'm writing every day, right here at the piano in this living room. This is my best work ever." In between tickling the ivories, she says she's settled into acomfortable domestic routine with her tots, who appear with her on the cover outfitted in teensy white tuxes and plaid fedoras that make them look a little like puppets in search of a ventriloquist.
She shares how they read the Berenstain Bears books and have watched the movie " .Brit adds that her sons "love my spaghetti," which she usually cooks with a little help from "the maid," whose thoroughness is apparently a sticking point.Spears admits she gets "mad if the maid does all the housework. If she takes it all into her own hands, well, what's for me to do? - I'm a cleaning fanatic. Dusting is my favorite, and Windex-ing."
But she may take a break from making her house squeaky-clean to do a little more acting."I'd love to, if I can find the right movie," offers Brit, who had a well-received guest-starring stint on ". "Actually, I have a part that just came up. We're just trying to work it out with my schedule, with the children."
Brit showed off her gym-toned bod during a Mexican getaway in July.
When asked whether she wants to see her tykes follow in her formerly wobbly footsteps by choosing a career in showbiz, Spears, perhaps flashing back to her own dysfunctional relationship with mom Lynne, answers in the negative. "I'd rather not. But I'd love them unconditionally if they wanted to," she says. "I'd just as soon they have a more normal childhood."Speaking of normal childhoods, which, we should point out, don't typically involve donning formal wear for a magazine cover shoot or being perpetual shutterbug targets, it's probably no coincidence that Brit chose to open up to the same celebrity-friendly weekly that reportedly paid her little sis Jamie Lynn a million bucks (a fee said to be negotiated by Mama Spears) for her pregnancy exclusive.
Britney fesses up to being "shocked a little bit" over her sister's stork news, explaining, "That was special, but it was also strange because she's always been the baby, and now the baby was having a baby. It was mind-boggling."
When Jamie Lynn's daughter, Maddie, made her debut in June, "It was really cool, and she was happy," says Brit, who jetted home to Kentwood, La., for the delivery. "When she got to the hospital, we all thought it was going to be an all-day thing, and instead, the baby just sort of popped out. OK, we're happy now!".She also believes her sons, whose names she's recently taken to sporting on a necklace (see above), will be close to their cousin, who will apparently be on hand next month in Los Angeles for their respective milestones (Sean turns 3; Jayden hits the big 0-2). "She's going to come out here for the kids' birthdays," Spears bubbles. "It will be the first time the cousins meet. I'm sure the boys will be like big brothers to Maddie."Also taking the lemonade-from-lemons approach is Britney's decision-making dad Jamie, who accentuates the positive over having to grab the reins of his once-estranged daughter's careening life.
"God has a way of taking something bad and turning it into something good," opines Papa Spears. "If this hadn't happened, I would never have been able to get back with my daughter and have this relationship I have with these two little boys."
Still, he concedes he can be something of a pushover."It's wonderful," Jamie says of their newly forged bond. "She sometimes calls me 50 times a day and asks me things that light my life up. But, like all daughters, she is very manipulative and cunning. So she gets what she wants a lot."
The New York Post says Brit's sweeping generalization-making pop was the one who hammered out the OK! deal, reportedly scoring $1 million for the exclusive.
"Britney has huge legal bills to pay," a source tells the paper.
"The money has been going one way -- out of her bank account -- for a long time, and this is a way to bring something in."
Jamie alludes to his daughter's bills when discussing her custody settlement with Federline, who is now said to be receiving $20,000 a month in child support, up from $15,000. "Kevin has a wonderful heart," offers Jamie of his onetime son-in-law, before adding, "I don't agree with giving him more money." ( to be continued ).
