    Bought a new digital camera...

    Posted over 5 years ago

My 3 year old Olympus C-350 Zoom digital camera has been becoming increasingly unreliable recently. I often couldn't use the navigation buttons, which left me stuck in whichever mode it was in, and sometimes it wouldn't even turn on. As you can imagine, this can be quite frustrating... particularly when I couldn't turn the flash on or off.

Bought a new digital camera... So while we were in New England last month, I bought my self a new digital camera; a Canon PowerShot A540 (picture above). With 6 megapixels and 4x optical zoom, it's certainly better than my old one. It has a ton of picture modes, including an "underwater" mode, which I managed to make good use of at the Boston Aquarium. The shutter and aperture priority modes look like they might be useful sometime too, once I've worked out how to use them.

In an effort to learn more about digital photography and to teach my self to take better pictures, I've created this lens which is full of useful tutorials and tips on Digital Cameras and Photography. I hope this site will be useful to other amateur photographers too...

Meanwhile, I really must catch up on the 3 years of photographs that I've been collecting, admittedly most of them are of my daughter Josephine. I quite like Picassa for organising my pictures, and it does a good job of exporting them to a website.

    • What do you say about Olympus?

    • It was a good camera, but it simply wore out before it's time. This is problably only an issue with the particular one I had, not all Olympus cameras. My only critism of the Olympus was it's speed, though this is partly caused by the slow access od the xD Picture card.
