My completely heartfelt and in depth review of The Passion was lost due to technical difficulties... and I can't bring myself to type it all out this second time around... so I'll just share bits of insights about the book.
Obviously, losing the original review saddens me.
“My passion for her, even though she could never return it, showed me the difference between inventing a lover and falling in love.”
"There's no sense in loving someone you can only wake up to by chance."
"We gamble with the hope of winning but it's the thought of what we might lose that excites us."
"Gambling is not a vice, it is an expression of our humanness. We gamble. Some do it at the gambling table, some do not. You play, you win, you play, you lose. You play."
"Soldiers and women. That's how the world is. Any other role is temporary. Any other role is a gesture."
"I don't care about the facts... I care about how I feel. How I feel will change. I want to remember that."
