My blood pressure has been shooting up since last month. Tonight, my BP rose to 150/110. Why does our blood pressure shoot up? There are a number of reasons for hypertension. It can be genetic or familial. It can also be caused by obesity. Extra pounds mean extra load for our hearts. Another cause is the amount of sodium intake. Salt should be taken in moderation. Being sedentary is another cause. It means lack of activity or exercise. Kidney diseases also cause hypertension. Stress is another cause of a sudden BP shoot up. Scary allergy
