Part of my parenting is to screen what my children watch and listen to, as long as I am confident that I exercised a good deal of care on the things that they engage on, they are allowed to watch or listen to a particular music. This is why I put importance in putting on Christian music every time, for them to have a good reflection on the Lord and on more positive things. Now, I do not want to stir any trouble here, but as a responsible parent, education is our best weapon to keep ourselves from harm in any form.
Some parents I’ve spoken to are worried about the state of today’s society. They are worried about their children getting pregnant early, getting hooked on drugs, getting killed, getting bullied. I also have a fair share of these troubles in m parenting. No, my children aren’t pain in the asses; they are in their impressionable stages. Children pick-up from adults. We all know this, so let us be practical and admit that we all have our flaws. Our society have gone as fas as to dictate who we should be and how we should behave; “if you have it, flaunt it” and there goes the inappropriate clothings worn by teen-age kids. I know what you must be saying; “we already have enough worries to focus on trivial things” yes that is true, but influence is not trivial, especially if it’s a bad one.
This is the reason to my post; Lady Gaga’s music. I know, a lot of people like him/her even my kids listens to her songs, but my observations about her music didn’t fail me. She’s engaged in Satanism. Part of my life as a believer is the study of the Word of God, and here revelations after revelations made me aware of how we are being tricked into mind-alterations and eventually enslave us. I’ve mentioned about this type of trickery in the movie Harry Potter in my other post. My children are now also aware about Beyonce’s music, so we sorted it all out, the song Survivor is the only song that survived our mp3 players.
To those who don’t understand what I stand for, I strike them as a controlling freak. I don’t let my children out unless it’s something important; I make them stay away from other children who are overindulgent in their speech, and other things that I see inappropriate. Of course I am not always successful, they are still trying to find ways, they are after all human with free will and find their identity, but that reasoning doesn’t stop my duty as a steward of God to these kids.
I was told to meditate on the goodness of the Lord (in case I am missing something), and this is what I have found; let us not waste what Jesus stood for when he handed himself to the cross to redeem us from eternal damnation.
