Ok, obviously you don't know anybody in the military (who by the way serves the commander and chief, regardless of politics). I have been in for over 10 years now (that includes the Clinton administration). I have worked beside, with and for thousands of veterans who would unanimously agree that we can’t wait for the day where a free nation such as America does not need a military. But, there are plenty of shitheads out there who would love to see America and many of it’s western partners (and eastern too) fall on their own swords and decapitate them selves. There is a 90% chance that somebody in your family, be it a father, grandfather or uncle etc… served in World War 2. Their sole purpose was to kill and stop their enemies. By your ignorant comment above, I am guessing that you are saying that they had no honor in what they did in the 1940s

It's kinda sad that this great picture has been ruined by people politicizing it. It is a great picture, one that few will capture, and it is very emotional, as well. But you folks can't see that. All you see is republican or democrat. I guess we are so wrapped up in this damn war that people don't know how to appreciate things anymore
maybe folks just need to get a damn life

Q. to a us citizen. Have you ever thought as to why you are in this mess? Why do you feel that yo u need to fight for your freedom? Why do you think that if you dont fight this war now it is going to be on your own turf? Have you thought as to who owns the media and therefore creates this message. Have you ever thought of thinking for yourself, and not some asinine anectdote that you read somewhere. Do you really know what your government(in alliance with several large corporations) has inflicted to many people throughout most of the world to put you in this position? Most of you are pawns in a big game you dont understand but you must play as it your only way to exist. I will leave that one with you

You are ingnorant. You are uneducated and have no morals. No one cares about your opinion because it is not needed. I wish you would go to Iraq and see what it is like for our soldiers. Better yet go over there and see what they do to you

Hater, you don't have any idea what you are talking about. I have a brother in the Marine Corps reserves (Fox co. 2/24). He was telling me, the week before he left, about his opinion. He said "When your over there and that first ounce of lead goes past your head, politics don't matter. All you care about is getting your buddies in your fireteam home." Don't you see, it's not about being a hero, it's not about politics. I tell you what, when you have your best friend open your door the morning he leaves for Iraq and tell you, nearly in tears "Chris, I don't think I'm coming home, I love you man." you come back to me and tell me how you felt. And just because my brother is going to Iraq, and god forbid, even if he doesn't come home, I will still "Forgive" him. Why? Because he is my brother and I love him, He is my best friend and he is the reason I am who I am today.

JESUS.... WHERE IS THE HUMANITY IN MANY OF THESE POSTS????? I don't give a rats ass if she was educated, poor, rich god fearing or god indifferent. What happens to our society when the majority of the posts are tinged with evil and miss the obvious humanity, pain, suffering and innocence of the child....in this photo. Compassion seems to be dead amongst many of you

That's what we call cooperation! My american colleagues will blow you up and than I will offer you my services as a medic. It works just fine! We will all have work to do and be happy! If you have a house we can also blow it up and than rebuild it and if you have a mother we can kill her and then dig her grave for free! We have the solutions for every problem that we caused. The cooperation at its best...

America is thankfully a free country...so we get the privalege of free speach. We all get that...we can say whatever we want.
And also thankfully we have different opinions and beliefs, which is what makes the world so great! Instead of bashing each other, let's all start using our freedom of speach for good. Speak your mind and explain what you believe and why...you just might be able to inspire someone or change their opionion...Bashing each other is not ever going to get anyone anywhere

Such a nice photograph. I wonder how many Iraqi mothers would like to be able to hold their dead children that have died from America's illegal war and invasion of a sovereign country. A photograph of an Iraqi mother holding a dead child would be a good politically incorrect parallel and should be shown beside this photograph to fully portray the human tragedy that is WAR, but then you guys might now be able to chow down so many burgers

Stella is right. She chose to be there in Iraq instead to take care of her own kid. Is that kind of stuff really for woman? No, women are seeking it, just because they want some independency in this feministic time. Actually are woman soldiers for sure bad mothers. They are men and only some visual things on them is looking like a female.

Normal Guy", you may find it difficult to believe but all the comments here are a result of the picture. Still Photography is one of the most visually compelling art-forms and will always propagate adverse comment and discussion. If you dont like it go back to your Playstation and be 'normal', as for forums, they are often politically mediated so can not be really defined as being a free expression of speech. I wonder what you mean by 'get a life', is that a state of mind where you neither care for whats happening to your fellow human beings and most likely condone it

You people really need to learn to separate the politics from the people that are forced to suffer because of them. The woman is simply doing her job - as are the thousands of other service men and women. Some of them do their jobs well. Some of them do their jobs poorly. Some are heroes. Some are shammers. But, they are doing their jobs - and it's not their fault we're in this bs war.
You can lay that one at the feet of the politicians.
I served in the military and I am a democrat. I have an American flag hanging on my front porch and I don't go to church or believe in God. I believe in the right to keep and bear arms but I don't mind waiting periods for guns. You can't always put someone in a little box and put a label on them. If some of you would stop doing that for a minute we might all realize that we're in the same boat and actually get something done.

How about you go take her place, Bill? Are are you planning to pack your bags and head off to Venezuela to help fight for the communists? Dick.
These people risk their lives on a daily basis so scumbags like you can have free speech to trash them. You're a worthless piece of trash that deserves to experience the "pain" of living under sharia law.

She didnt choose to leave. She was told to leave, by an organization she probably joined before there was a war, before she knew she'd have a child to leave. Your opinions are harsh and pointless. You make me weep for our future. Not because you're wrong, or right, but because you have no concept of peace. YOu sit there and cry out harsh words about how many have been killed and yet you hope she dies in the war. Thats so peaceful. Hypocrites rotting from the inside out with your hate of those that oppose you in their hatred of somehting you dont oppose. You're exhausting the tolerance of the intelligent with you ignorant diatribes
