At today’s Apple event, CEO Tim Cook unveiled the new Apple iPhone 4S.

On the surface, the iPhone 4S looks just like its predecessor, but on the inside the device is “all new.” Apple has put a dual-core A5 CPU inside alongside a new dual-core GPU that is supposed to enhance graphical performance by up to 7 times.

Up front, will be the usual Retina, and the antenna around the sides of the phone has been revamped. It can now switch between two different sets of anntenas to avoid dropping calls based on how you hold the phone.

Those antennas are connected to a dual-mode, GSM and CDMA radio that will allow Apple’s handset to scan the globe while enjoying either 14.4Mbps HSPA+ or EVDO.

On the back of the phone is an 8-megapixel camera with a backside illuminated CMOS sensor for better low-light photos. The lens also now boasts an IR filter and a new assembly for apertures down to f/2.4.

The enhanced visuals extend to video performance as well. The iPhone 4S can record 1080p video and has a new image signal processor for image stabilization and facial recognition.

The event isn’t over yet, so be sure to keep checking our Live Video page.
