In US consumers purchased twice as many Blu-ray Discs than HD DVDs in the first nine months of 2007.
1.4m HD-DVDs were sold from January through to the end of September. 2.6m BDs were sold in the same period.
However, the situation isn't all that good for both of them. Sales slipped during the summer quarter and dropped even further in the third quarter.
US Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming soon, this will surely benefit both formats. HD-DVD players are at all-time low prices, and while standalone BD players remain expensive in comparison, more are coming to market. And next month Sony will release its $399 40GB PS3.
