Well, to begin talking about this wonderful place, I need to say that the $300 I’ve earned so far this summer has just about ALL come from Associated Content. I worked my ass off for a couple weeks doing nothing but write articles for them. Now, hopefully I’m getting a little smarter about what to write, how to submit, and what pays more. I’m still figuring out the bonuses (meaning I haven’t actually made much from them - $0.70). It’s a start, though, and I think this site will probably provide the most money toward my goals, at least as an online ‘job’ is concerned.
So what’s the gist of Associated Content? They accept all kinds of writing, and I believe the only two kinds they won’t pay you for are fiction and poetry. All paying submissions must be between 400-10,000 words , and you may choose to give Associated Content the exclusive rights to your articles/writing (meaning you cannot publish/use them elsewhere) or you may submit them as non-exclusive so you can use them elsewhere. Exclusive articles generally pay slightly more (in my experience $1-2 higher). It’s really up to how you want to use the articles you write. If an offer is particularly low, and is exclusive, you might have better luck rejecting the offer, rewriting and resubmitting for higher payment, or just publishing non-exclusive and using your article other places. It really depends on what you’re looking to accomplish.
I love this site. If I did not have this site I would probably be pretty close to broke.
The next thing I need to learn how to do is market these articles for page views. The bonus I referred to before is based on page views. Some people are doing really well just on the bonuses; I haven’t quite worked this out yet, but that’s my next step!
Good luck, and happy writing!
