Air Defenders compete to be Soldier of the Year Air Defenders compete to be Soldier of the YearImage by USAG-Humphreys OSAN AIR BASE – Nine Air Defenders of the 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade competed through four days of evaluations, sweating and testing in hopes of being named the brigade’s Noncommissioned Officer, Soldier and Korean Augmentation to the U.S. Army of the Year Competition, here, May 3 to 7. Sgt. Sean M. McSherry, of Charlie Battery, 6th Battalion, 52nd Air and Missile Defense Regiment, was named the NCO of the Year, Sgt. Cody L. Thorington, of Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 6-52 AMD was named the Soldier of the Year and Cpl. Choi, Bing-su, also of HHB, 6-52 AMD, was named the KATUSA of the Year. Besides Osan, the nine Soldiers came from installations across the Korean peninsula, including Suwon Air Base, Kunsan Air Base and Camp Carroll.
