Q.12

Describe briefly the advantages of transpiration to the plants.
Ans.

Transpiration is very important process for the life of plants.
Following are the advantages of transpiration to the plants.
1. During the process of transpiration a defficiency of water is produced in the
cells of leaves. To make up this defficiency, leaves pull water from the xylem
vessels of branches, stem and roots.Along water dissolved salts are also reached
to the leaves.Theses salts are used in leaves in the process of photosynthesis to
manufacture protein, chlorophyll and other essential nutrients.
2. The temperature of the plants remains moderate due to the process of
transpiration.
3. Transpiration also keep the cell surface moist to facilitate the exchange of gases
in dissolved state.

Ascent Of Sap

Q.10What do mean by ascent of sap?Which factors are involved in ascent of sap? Ans. Sap Plants absorb water and salts through roots. This solution enters the vacuole of the cell and is called solution or sapAscent of Sap The upward movement of water and salts is called ascent of sap. This sap passes through the xylem cells of roots and stem and reaches the leaves.
