World's Biggest Moth

Attacus atlas or atlas moth is the biggest moth in the world. The wingspan of the atlas moth is 10-12 inches and the wings surface area is 65 square inches. They live in tropical and subtropical forests of Southeast Asia in Southern China, Thailand and Indonesia. Female moths are bigger than males.

It was named after its map-like wing patterns. In hong Kong it's also called the snake's head moth because the tips of wings resemble snake heads.
