The Man Who Lives With Bears

I tried to embed the google video but it didn't work, I don't know why.. So I post the google URL for the video. It's a documentary with 44 minutes from chanel 5, 2008. It's awesome to see how this man lives along as friend with wild bears that enter his home, eat from his hand, play with him as it was a very normal act. Incredible and fascinating!

Gregory, the Egg Man

Meet Gregoire Da silva; Cape Town’s most recognisable foreigner. The man from the tiny West African state of Benin has been turning heads in the city. He is adding an African flair to the mother city’s tourism landscape. Regular visitors to Green Market Square and St. George’s Mall are familiar with the sight: A colourfully-garbed man who goes about balancing a heap of junk atop his tiny head. He causes quite a stir everywhere he goes. The sight is eerie at worst, awesome at best. It makes people gasp in bewilderment. The picture is reminiscent of a figure from an African folklore

amazing story, as I'm watching it i can't help feeling amazed. There was also a man who lived with bears in the wild in Alaska. However he and his wife were eaten in the end by a bear.

If we humans can kill each other in a rage it's understandable that it can happen with animals. Also if the bears are hunger his behavior will be altered. I think there's always a risk but it's still amazing.

I mean, he is just a teacher and he handles bears better and bear experts.
If you're a teacher, maybe you can also handle bears like that? :)

World and Portuguese history. But when I say World that means the world history seen by the European point of view. What I don't agree very much. Europe wasn't the "great" civilization of all times. We shouldn't forget the Asian and Arabian history that were so much (even more)important as European.

It is unnatural, and I would not be so sure that the bears nature can be overridden by people. There is always a danger, that bear should become a preditor. Wild animals should not be domesticated.

I agree with you, but I also think that animals can be not so bad has we figure. But there's also persons that have a communication sensibility and capability. I love animals, but I prefer the domesticated ones, human inclusive ;)

I do not think that the animals are bad. They have natural instincts that humans try to break. I hate animal circus, since it is unnatural when Lion is scared from a man, and is doing what human wants. I also do not like Zoo, if it is not Safari-type, when animals have big living spaces.

In Russia, it was the Lion - movie star (name King). He was brought in the family as a cub, and he lived with them all his live. Untill he killed them all. Not because he was bad, but because he was lion, and not the cat...

Of course. If even dogs sometimes bite the owners! But I believe that's less dangerous to be friendly with a wild animal out in their habitat than at home. The animal will be less stressed and there will be less possibilities to attack.

It is kind of "cool" to have wild animal at home, but it is never safe, no matter what are the relationship in the family. Couple of years ago, a very famous friends of bears was killed by "his friend" in Alaska.

And how many times do we hear about someone has killed another only because he got angry for something not so important?

That is a different story. Human in most cases know (or should know) that they are doing something wrong. For wild animals, there is no tabu.
