Despite the criticism I really like what Michelle Rhee is doing to shake up the DC school district. She started by closing chronically under filled schooled and cutting a ton of administrative jobs that a defunct bureaucratic system has created and now she is doing Merit Pay (in a nutshell: the better your students do, the more bonuses you get). Of course, with any person that has a vision for the future, she is getting opposed at every turn. Teacher unions, parents and community members claim that she is destroying the DC communities, but I say to that, prove it! I think that Rhee is doing a real service for DC and people are too blind to see beyond their short sited views to see what good she is generating. No one likes to be told what to do without a decision and that is why they are made at Rhee. Well I say go the distance Rhee and save the DC school.
