Russian troops leave Georgia

Russian troops have left Georgia only peacekeepers remain. General Alexei Maslov confirmed that Russia was pulling out its troops from Georgia. Maslov's aide, Colonel Igor Konashenkov says that the troops convoy has already crossed i nto Armenia to set up base in the northern town of Gyumri.

These news come as Georgia is supposed to lift the emergency rule that Saakashvili has imposed a week ago. The emergency rule will be lifted Friday on all country's territory.

Schengen Zone Expands

Today, 9 countries, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia joined the Schengen zone. The Schengen agreement, which allows passport-free travel across the area, now embraces 24 countries. Now it's possible to travel all the way from Lisbon in Portugal to Tallinn in Estonia without any border control.Ceremonies of taking down border check crossings were help on the borders of the newly joined countries.Initially lifting the border control involves just land and sea borders but will include airports in march 2008.BBC

A 76-year-old native Turk allegedly shot the victim, a 58-year-old Turkish-born man, in the street with a shotgun at point-blank range and then cut off his penis with a knife, leaving him to bleed to death.
