Russian bombers are flying further and more often

Today I decided to write about something different. About Russian patrolling bombers in the Western Pacific.

U.S jets intercepted two Russia Tupolev 95 Bear bombers in the western pacific. One flew just over the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz while the other was 50 miles away and 2 more were 100 miles away.

The bombers took off the Ukrainka air base in the far east. Japanese officials say they violated its airspace. Russia jets have been making flight over the western pacific for several months now.

In September U.S jets were scrambled to intercept a plane that came 50 miles of the coastline. There were also 8 incidents near the Alaska border. U.S intercepted Russian bombers in July, August and September.

By the looks of thing the quantity of Russian bombers and numbers of flights will increase with time.

US House passes bill demanding US trops withdrawal by December 2008

US House approved a war funding bill with a timeline to withdraw the troops from Iraqand less funds for the war. Only $50 billion instead of $200 billion which Bush wanted. The bill states that the primary use of the money is US forces redeployment. The vote was close 218 to 203. 15 democrats voted against it but 4 republicans for it. You might say it's a 50/50 vote and Bush can has the power to veto the bill.Bush vetoed a similar measure in May. But the Democratic leaders of the House and Senate say if the president vetoes this bill, the administration will have to divert money from elsewhere

6 dead at Northern Illinois University

It is sad that school shootings have become a frequent thing in the U.S. In Northern Illinois University a shooter killed 5 people and wounded 17. The scenario was the same as in many other such cases, a gunman came in, shot everyone then shot himself. The police say they know the identity of the gunman but but have not released it yet. The motives of the shooter are unknown. How many such cases there have to be to get the government thinking about it's arms policy. What do they expect when they have a country full of armed people - some are bound to be unstable or have a grudge against the world.

They are probably just upset about the missile defense systems we just installed around their country. USA is taking every measure necessary to be "undefeatable".

I wonder why the money isn't spend on efforts towards peace instead?

It is easier to be a major player on the international market, when you are strong. Russia is trying to recover from the Soviet Union crash and regain its military power. Huge profits from the oil export gives the financial abilities to direct more finances into the military budget.
