Russia's parliament has voted to suspend CFE treaty. - a traety that limits the deployment of conventional forces in Europe.
Because of NATO expansion and other factors in Europe, the CFE treaty "no longer responds to the security interests of the Russian Federation" said the lower house of parliament.
This is yet another response to the the US plans to building a missile defence system in eastern Europe.
Russia is the only country to have ratified the new version of CFE modified in 1999. This doesn't mean that Russia is withdrawing from the treaty, they only want NATO states to ratify the treaty.
Nato countries said they would ratify a revised version of the CFE treaty once Moscow has fulfilled it's pledge made in 1999 to pull its troops out of the former Soviet republics of Georgia and Moldova.
Very interesting interview of a former US Ambassador to Soviet Union Jack Matlock. The issues adressed in the interview are mainly about relations between US and Russia considering the conflict in Georgia. This is a really interesting intrview one, I was very happy to hear.
If you read what I write here you know I don't believe in things said on the news. I believe or rather know that countries (or even the whole world) are controlled by a few very wealthy and powerful people. I believe in democracy but in order for a democracy to function properly people have to be interested in politics and be knowledgeable about political topics. Otherwise people can be easily manipulated by the media. The media is a tool, they show you what you need to know and don't show things you don't need to know.
