Russia is to set legal links with Abkhazia and South Ossetia

As i said before it was wrong to recognize Kosovo's independence and there would be consequences to the rest of the world. Well here they are. Russia has announced that it would establish legal links with Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Georgia has already called an emergency security meeting saying Russia is annexing their territory. Georgia's foreign minister is calling Russia's move "de facto annexation"

Now, I couldn't care less about Russia annexing Georgia's regions as far as I know these 2 regions want to be independent and want to join the Russian Federation. Plus many of the people there have Russian passports.

What I hate in all this is the hypocrisy. The US and some EU countries were very eager to recognize Kosovo's independence while others were saying it was against the international law. Now Russia is going to establish legal links with Abkhazia and South Ossetia (which is not annexation btw) and now Nato is saying Russia is breaking the international law. The US has broken international laws before funny it wants others to follow them. Lets face the international laws are just a set of recommendations now. One more reason why Nato is concerned is because of the instability makes George a less palatable prospect to join Nato.

I just want to add that even though Russia is going to set legal links with these two regions it still hasn't recognized their independence so don't worry or be sad, whatever you may feel

This is yet another response to the the US plans to building a missile defence system in eastern Europe. Russia is the only country to have ratified the new version of CFE modified in 1999. This doesn't mean that Russia is withdrawing from the treaty, they only want NATO states to

I agree with you. There's a lot of hypocrizy in international politics. And Kosovo is a good example.

And what does that mean to the rest of us? Why should we care about a country which you have to google to find.
