George Bush used his seventh and final State of Union to defend his war in Iraq. He warned against the dangers of withdrawing US troops that would undermine the progress achieved in the recent months. He praised the results of the "surge" of U.S troops sent to Iraq last year. Bush said that in was in the interests of our nation that we succeed. Then he continued with the usual stuff like that the U.S army will prevail. In the speech Bush didn't mention the National Intelligence Estimate report that Iran was not producing nuclear weapons nor did he mention the chaos in Gaza after the Israeli fuel blockade. Instead he warned Tehran to come clean on it's nuclear ambitions saying the U.S will confront any threats to its forces. He urged congress to pass his $150 bn economic stimulus, a bill making tax cuts permanent and to pass free-trade deals with Colombia, Panama and South Korea. This is his last year as president and what Bush is trying to do is to lobby some laws and bills that would make his life (and his partners) a bit or alot easier after he leaves office. This is common among politicians to do this during their last years in office. Concerning the stimulus I think if it is passed it would go right into the pockets of wealthy and powerful people in the U.S |
How many Bush Administration people does it take to change a light bulb??
Answer: TEN.
1. One to deny that a light bulb needs to be changed;
2. One to attack the patriotism of anyone who says the light bulb
needs to be changed;
3. One to blame Clinton for burning out the light bulb;
4. One to tell the nations of the world that they are either for
changing the light bulb or for eternal darkness;
5. One to give a billion dollar no-bid contract to Halliburton for a
new light bulb;
6. One to arrange a photograph of Bush, dressed as a janitor, standing on a step ladder under the banner “Bulb Accomplished”;
7. One administration insider to resign and in detail reveal how Bush was literally “in the dark” the whole time;
8. One to viciously smear #7;
9. One surrogate to campaign on TV and at rallies on how George Bush has had a strong light bulb-changing policy all along;
10. And finally, one to confuse Americans about the difference between screwing a light bulb and screwing the country.
And, after all is said and done, no one will be able to do anything
about the fact that they never even actually managed to change the light bulb.
