Bipolar World

The world is slowly growing apart. The recent conflict in Georgia has shown that the world is becoming bipolar. Russia's actions in this conflict has been condemned by the West and supported by the East. Countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization voiced their support for Russia's actions in in Georgia and South Ossetia following the recent conflict.

Now we're seeing a wave of harsh and hasty speeches against Russia. For example British Foreign Secretary David Miliband called for the forming of anti-Russian coalition. Later the same day he said that it's important not to issialate Russia and we all need to work with Russia.

Another example is WTO. During recent years countries like Poland and lithuania blocked Russia's attempts to join the organization. During the conflict it has been said by many that now Russia won't join the organization. And when Russia said "Ok, we don't need to join WTO" statements were made saying Russia should join WTO as soon as possible.

My point is that Europe cannot do anything to hurt Russia without hurting themselves. Any sanctions against Russia from the EU will hurt the EU more than Russia.

So, the only thing the EU can do is condemn. However, they are totally powerless. It's like a dog barking at a bear. It can bark all it wants but it can't do anything.

There's one more point I'd like to speak about. Georgia started the conflict. It's totally Saakashvili's fault. Europe won't risk worsening the relations with Russia for a small country with a crazy leader. Prosperity and world peace is more important then Georgia.

It's not worth even trying. Especially for the sake of a country that started the war.
