Yes, that's right Abu Qatada who is described as Bin Laden's right-hand in Europe was released from jail yesterday evening and for the time being he won't be deported back to Jordan where he is wanted on terror charges. The judge ruled out that if Abu Qatada were to return to Jordan he would receive an unfair trial breaching his human rights. Here he is:
Strick restriction has been issued to Abu Qatada. He cannot: • Qatada cannot meet or contact Osama Bin Laden in any way, along with 20 other individuals ( that's a shame, I bet Osama would love to come visit)
• He must stay indoors 22 hours a day, but can leave between 10am and 11am, and 2pm and 3pm
• He cannot use a mobile phone but will be allowed access to a (probably bugged) landline
• Nobody can enter his home without the Home Secretary's permission except his wife, children, lawyers and doctor
• He cannot attend any mosque or lead prayers except to his wife and children at home
• He cannot publish any statement, article or book without the Home Office's permission
• In theory, he can work This "curfew" will cost taxpayers about $1,000,000 a year and you can guess who happy they are that their tax money are being spent on this man. This decision will definitely further drop Brown's rating. Although Abu Qatada has been linked to one of the 9/11hijackers. I believe he is more useful live. If they had deported him now Qatada would most certainly be executed but if he remains here under a close watch of the British "special service" much information could be learned(extracted) from him regarding Al Qaeda's plans. |
