The newly elected prime minister of Australia Kevin Rudd is going to pull out 550 troops from Iraq by the middle of next year.Not all Australian troops will be withdrawn , some of the troops will stay behind including those who provide security of the Australian embassy.

Kevin Rudd won the elections by a landslide beating John Howard, who was Bush's last major partner in the "coalition of the willing"
