"Georgia's territorial integrity and borders must command the same respect as every other nation's, including Russia's" these there the words uttered by George Bush speaking about the Russia's Parliament and Duma decision to recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia as independent nations.
Don't you just love it when actions recklessly taken by one nation backfire? When Kosovo declared its independence from Seribia it was backed by the US, France, Germany, Britain and other countries. Russia opposed to that decision but no one listened. I've already written about the possible consiquences of such reckless actions and that recognision of Kosovo's indpendence will backfire and what do you know, it has.
The situations are very similar and yet the countries what were so eager to recognize Kosovo aren't so eager to recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Why is that? Don't they deserve freedom from Georgia, especially after the invasion and the killings of South Ossetian civilians? And this was not the first time Georgia used force against them. In the 90s when Georgia got its independece it attacked South Ossetia and Abkhazia because they didn't want to be a part of Georgia.
