George Bush sent his first ever $3 Trillion budget proposal to congress with deep cuts in healthcare and a huge increase in military spending. He called it a "solid budget" that would keep the US safe and boots the economy.
Of the $3.1 Trillion which is 6% from projected spending of 2.9 trillion in 2008 budget:
$515 bn for military spending
$70 bn more for Iraq and Afghanistan ( According to the White House it's not enough)
$145 bn economic stimulus
$400 bn deficit over next two years, more then double last year's deficit
Democrats are calling this budget another failed policy and it bears the hallmark of Bush's legacy, more debt, more deficit, more tax cuts, more cutbacks in critical services. The budget is fiscally irresponsible and highly deceptive hiding more costs of the war in Iraq and increasing the debt.
The republicans are also not pleased with the budget saying "The budget is done so nobody would be taking a long hard look at it."
In short this budget means, more for my (Bush's) wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and less for you people.
The next president will have a hard time at the office after what Bush and his administration have done.
