| This should be filed under the humor section but this short anecdote describes very well what politics is. I think most of you would agree. A little boy goes to his dad and asks, “What is politics?” Dad says, “Well son, let me try to explain it this way: I’m the breadwinner of the family, so let’s call me capitalism. Your Mom, she’s the administrator of the money, so we’ll call her the Government. We’re here to take care of your needs, so we’ll call you the people. The nanny, we’ll consider her the Working Class. And your baby brother, we’ll

| As i said before it was wrong to recognize Kosovo's independence and there would be consequences to the rest of the world. Well here they are. Russia has announced that it would establish legal links with Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Georgia has already called an emergency security meeting saying Russia is annexing their territory. Georgia's foreign minister is calling Russia's move "de facto annexation" Now, I couldn't care less about Russia annexing Georgia's regions as far as I know these 2 regions want to be independent and want to join the Russian Federation. Plus many of

| I'm just disgusted by people who are using Tibet to boycott the Olympics in China. Those people should be ashamed of themselves. I understand that a lot of people out there are concerned and enraged by what it happening in Tibet and they have the right to protest but how dare they use the Olympic Games to achieve their goals.I don't think any protests will be able to boycott the Olympics nor the opening ceremony but the fact alone that people use the games to pressure the country is not right. Many athletes have been training to do their best at the Olympics and millions of people are looking

| This week was full of political events. Of course the biggest news was NATO summit in Bucharest. During the summit Bush struggled to invite Ukraine and Georgia to join the alliance thankfully some European leaders has enough balls and brains to say "no". Also Poland and the Czech Republic agreed to set up interceptors missiles and a radar dish on their territory - these countries are paid enough to keep their balls small and brains inactive. As you know both of these decisions are fiercely opposed by Russia. And I'm beginning to think they are doing this on purpose. It seems Bush wants

| If you read what I write here you know I don't believe in things said on the news. I believe or rather know that countries (or even the whole world) are controlled by a few very wealthy and powerful people. I believe in democracy but in order for a democracy to function properly people have to be interested in politics and be knowledgeable about political topics. Otherwise people can be easily manipulated by the media. The media is a tool, they show you what you need to know and don't show things you don't need to know. | The invasion of Iraq is a success said president George Bush. In his speech he said "The level of violence is significantly down. Civilian deaths are down. Sectarian killings are down. Attacks on American forces are down." Because of our invasion the world is a better and the US is a safer place now. Since the invasion 4,000 US and allied soldiers and tens of thousands of Iraqis have been killed. The only thing that invasion has done is destabilize the region, made the US muslim enemy #1 and made terrorist organizations more popular. But the more I think about it the more it becomes clear

| There's just so many new things you can learn from CNN. When reading CNN news I get the feeling of impending doom. Every news article about China, the Middle East or Russia is presented like "OH MY GOD! THEY ARE GOING TO KILL US!!!" Now, I know there are sensible people out there who don't believe everything that CNN writes but what scare me is that there are many people out there who do. Can you imagine what they think about the rest of the world. Today, CNN wrote a fantastic article called "Russia Threatens Force Over Kosovo". It looks like CNN is trying to keep everyone terrified.

| Now, this is actually very interesting. I've been observing the news regarding this for some time. The official version is that the satellite has malfunctioned and now represents a danger to us. They say It is carrying highly toxic rocket fuel. That was the official version which I don't believe for a second. I find it strange that the U.S are ready to spend $60 million just to shoot down a satellite. The more believable version is that the U.S want to test their anti-satellite weapons just like China did last year. This is actually what China is saying about this.Russia is also not very trusting

| It is sad that school shootings have become a frequent thing in the U.S. In Northern Illinois University a shooter killed 5 people and wounded 17. The scenario was the same as in many other such cases, a gunman came in, shot everyone then shot himself. The police say they know the identity of the gunman but but have not released it yet. The motives of the shooter are unknown.
How many such cases there have to be to get the government thinking about it's arms policy. What do they expect when they have a country full of armed people - some are bound to be unstable or have a grudge against the world.

| Russian president Vladimir Putin has warned Ukraine that he will aim nuclear missiles at it if Ukraine joins Nato and accepts the U.S missile shield on its territory. Russia wasn't happy about the expansion of Nato into former soviet countries - Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia and especially unhappy about the anti-missile defense sites in Eastern Europe: Poland and the Czech Republic. The Ukrainian politicians reacted by saying Ukraine has the right to form its own foreign and defense policies. "We are an independent state and will make our decisions regardless of what others say." This

| Today I decided to write about something different. About Russian patrolling bombers in the Western Pacific. U.S jets intercepted two Russia Tupolev 95 Bear bombers in the western pacific. One flew just over the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz while the other was 50 miles away and 2 more were 100 miles away. The bombers took off the Ukrainka air base in the far east. Japanese officials say they violated its airspace. Russia jets have been making flight over the western pacific for several months now. In September U.S jets were scrambled to intercept a plane that came 50 miles of the coastline. There

| U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates spoke in Munich Conference on Security Policy he urged European nations to commit more troops in the fight against extremism in Afghanistan. He complained that the U.S, Canada and Britain are doing most of the "work" while countries as Germany, France, Italy aren't doing enough. Gates said global Islamic terrorism is a threat to them all and listed the recent terror act in London and Madrid and Nato members must share the burden of Afghanistan.Pardon the comparison but it looks like Dr. Frankenstein can't handle his monster. in the 70s the United

| Israel is reducing power supply to Gaza as par of a plan to severe its economic ties with the territory. They have already cut 5% on one of the 10 power line that supply Gaza. Israel say this is a signal and they will continue the disengagement process and hope the Palestinians will focus on getting new energy sources then making rockets.I seriously doubt that this move will prevent the extremists from making rockets they will soon let the people suffer and continue their production.
