2009's most anticipated Hollywood films

Here are five of the most anticipated of this year, in order of release date.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Release date: May 1)

Hugh Jackman unsheathes the claws once again as he plays the fan-favorite mutant Wolverine in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." Directed by Gavin Hood, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" pits Wolverine against Sabretooth, played by Liev Schreiber and a host of other mutants including Blob and Deadpool, as well as the nefarious Weapon X project.

Terminator: Salvation (Release date: May 22)

Terminator Salvation picks up the story in 2018, after the destruction of human civilization by the artificial intelligence known as Skynet. Christian Bale stars at the iconic character John Connor, who was conceived in the first Terminator film by a union with Sarah Conner, then played by Linda Hamilton, and Kyle Reese, a soldier from the future. Kyle Reese appears in Terminator Salvation played by Anton Yelchen. Bryce Dallas Howard and Helen Bonham Carter also are in the cast, with Josh Brolin rumored to appear as the Terminator.

Angels & Demons (May 15)

The team behind the global phenomenon The Da Vinci Code returns for the highly anticipated Angels & Demons, based upon the bestselling novel by Dan Brown. Tom Hanks reprised the lead role of Robert Langdon, while director Ron Howard, producer Brian Grazer and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman also returned.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (Release date: June 26)

Decepticon forces return to Earth on a mission to take Sam Witwicky prisoner, after the young hero learns the truth about the ancient origins of the Transformers. Joining the mission to protect humankind is Optimus Prime, who forms an alliance with international armies for a second epic battle.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Release date: July 27)

As Harry Potter begins his 6th year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, he discovers an old book marked mysteriously "This book is the property of the Half-Blood Prince" and begins to learn more about Lord Voldemort's dark past.
