While this enormous beef recall won't turn me vegetarian, I can understand why some choose not to eat meat. They are feeding us Down Cattle, putting in the school lunches and we wonder why American kids are getting dumber and fatter - You are what you eat!Of course my two dozen or so loyal readers know the reason behind all this: Profit. This isn't some sinister plan cooked up by The Joker or another supervillain. No, these kinds of things are planned by fat, rich white guys in a board room that don't want to see their bottom line change. They try to squeeze every last dollar out of these animals, like in Europe where they started the practice of feeding cows animal byproducts, effectively turning herbivores into cannibals since most of these "byproducts" came from cattle. We all know what that cost-cutting measure led to... Mad Cow .The California slaughterhouse involved in this latest recall saw these cows too sick to walk did not want to throw all that money away. So instead they fed it to kids in school. For the record I never liked school lunch and teachers once tried to force me to eat it. I never gave in, and ate lunch when I got home - considering what the old school lunch program of the Reagan years was like, I think I made the right decision. Wow George Bush, $600-$1200 bucks! Did you think of that all by yourself? Of course not, but you'll take credit for this latest half-assed attempt to stabilize the US Economy. This so called Stimulus Package is less than what the US spent in Iraq this year and it's supposed to keep us from recession? How is giving us a rent check going to stop the slide? Most people I know eligible for this "refund" have little or no money invested, they can't afford it. I'd say put it in the bank but with the dollar so weak there is no guarantee that it won't evaporate in the next few years.

I am actually surprised this video made it out due to China's crackdown on media coverage in Tibet.Regardless of where you stand on the Tibet question, you have to have respect for these guys as they face a nuclear power in China with horses, rocks and the occasional hunting rife. I'm not sure the Dalai Lama has anything to do with this - he does not need any involvement. Tibetans are frustrated and no amount of non-violent training

I was pretty shocked when I saw the news this morning. It seems most of the schools adjusted the menus here in Florida but Osceola county was feeding the kids cheeseburgers today. WTF!

I agree with you. It is a matter of our personal choice. there should not be any force on the food we prefer to eat.
