So NBC's Today Show has sent their hosts across the globe (not the first time this year) in order to raise money for charity. If viewers donate $10,000 then hosts such as Ann Curry will "get eXtreme" and do crazy things like bungee jump. Or how about next week when Al Roker tries to hang-glide, creating a new definition of heavier-than-air flight. While this may be in some Sheep's opinions "must see TV", I see it as a complete scam and a way to exploit charity in order to garner end of the year ratings.Think about it: they flew all of these hosts around the world to do these stupid stunts, it's not like they're in Rockefeller Square doing this. So how much did it cost to send Matt, Merideth, Ann and Al to their respective locations along with their entire camera crew? How much does it cost to feed them, how many hotel rooms do they take up? And they want us, you know, the stuggling Middle Class to donate? How much does Matt Lauer make in a year? Matt could have donated the ten grand himself, went Kiteboarding on his vacation and hired a camera crew to film it for less than this Charity stunt is costing. But no, then NBC couldn't brag - it's not about giving in this country, it's about CONSPICUOUS giving. Hey NBC - Next time you're in the giving mood, just write a check!Why does everthing have to be a gimmick these days? Like a few months ago when NBC shut off their studio lights to become "green". Did that really fool anyone? Did anyone think that the producers out back were working on candle power? It was another gimmick, and so nobody could call them on it they bought Carbon Credits. NBC you guys are truly America's network: Make a show for the cameras and then throw just enough money at the problem to keep the critics away.
Everybody has been talking about it for so long that nobody should be surprised - well maybe some of those Real Estate nitwits who didn't realize that bubbles burst. See how easy it is to destabilize the entire world economy - all you have to do is shake up the US market with a mortgage crisis, low consumer confidence and a dollar not worth the paper its printed on.All the while the rich don't care because their brokers can sell short and make money in a bear market. Or if things get "bad" for the rich they can sell some stuff off. The poor? They have bigger problems like finding food
