I'm not saying that I will vote for Barack Obama, but if my vote hangs on an a candidate's potential, then he has the best chance. Having Oprah support him is a sin I cannot forgive but out of all the choices we have in this Hometown Buffet of an election, Obama is one of the few candidates from either party that does not looked picked over.More to the point - any one of the candidates could be an average president, thanks GW Bush for lowering the bar! Some of them could be good presidents. But in my mind only Barack Obama has the potential, however small, of becoming a great President. He looks the part, speaks eloquently (regardless of race), believes in consensus and unlike most candidates in US History, knows what it's like to struggle. You know all those heinous "side-effects" those television ads for prescription drugs rattle off? Well get ready for more of them America because guess what? THESE DRUGS ARE NOW IN YOUR DRINKING WATER! Sure they're only trace amounts, and so some "experts" are saying there is no risk. Don't they realize that many of these drugs, like Prozac act cumulatively - you build it up in your body - that's why it takes so long to get off some of these drugs. Also, what happens if you are already taking some of these drugs? Or even more dangerously, what if you are taking medications
Is there any hope for us? Or are we doomed. All the magic has been stripped from reality, science rules, but does not answer all the questions, and now there is no safety net for our souls - we may very well be alone. Nothing is holding back the bad from doing bad and the indifferent from siding on the side of righteousness. We are at the mercy of the corporations, the media and the powers that be and are in reality no freer than our peasant ancestors to do what we want unless we have the money.
