You can tell George Bush loves the State of the Union speech - center of attention, countless standing ovations and it's the one time of year that even his enemies hold out just a tiny bit of hope that he will "get it" this time. Well like always, the Democrats have found plenty to complain about in Bush's plan for his last year in office. As for me, I'm just sick of hearing him talk - he does not get it, he's never had to look for a job, or try and claim unemployment, he does not know anyone without health insurance. Apparently Bush thinks that $600 is going to help someone so far in debt that they are using their credit cards to pay for groceries - because food stamps do not cover their food bill. Or how about the seniors I know (including my grandparents) that have to make the decision to either buy heating oil or food and keep the thermostat just high enough to keep the pipes from freezing.Maybe instead of having the House of Representatives filled with politicians and lobbyists during the State of the Union Speech, they should fill the room with homeless and poor people - no shortage of them in Washington DC. Let's see George or whoever succeeds him act so smug from the rostrum when they have to look into the eyes of people who do not have the luxury of worrying about the stock market.
