Swine Flu: a breath of fresh air

By Ganza  in  World & News

For the past week or so the top story on most news sites the main topic was and is swine flu. I have to admin this is refreshing from the constant waves of bad news about the world economic crisis. Even though the news is refreshing I don't really understand how it became world's top story.159 Mexicans died from A disease and only a few deaths were confirmed to have been caused by the swine flu. So I don't get what's all the fuss is about. So compared to the regular flu, swine flu is just a minor cold. Regular flu kills about (because there's no way of knowing the exact number) 500,000 people   read more

Pakistan is in Danger! But from Whom?

By Ganza  in  Politics & Social Issues

According to Hillary Clinton the taliban are going to take over Pakistan because of failed government policies. "I think that we cannot underscore the seriousness of the existential threat posed to the state of Pakistan by continuing advances, now within hours of Islamabad, that are being made by a loosely confederated group of terrorists and others who are seeking the overthrow of the Pakistani state, a nuclear-armed state." The cause of such statements must be the peace deal between the taliban and Pakistan.I see an US invasion into Pakistan under the pretext of not allowing the Taliban to captured   read more

Sleep tight Europe, Israel is still there.

By Ganza  in  Politics & Social Issues

The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas seems to be doing well, aside for some minor incidents. However, will this last? I don't think so. Hamas said many times that it will destroy Israel, they never specify how a group of extremists armed with automatic weapons and rockets can beat the Israeli army but that's not important now.People didn't take to kindly to the Israeli operation in Gaza and with good reason. Gaza is a small strip of Palestine, and yet it's heavily populated. So naturally the invasion of Gaza led to civilian casualties. According to the reports the civilians made up about 40%   read more

Iran is not the Problem

By Ganza  in  Politics & Social Issues    Movies & TV
Share

Yesterday I've watched a film called Iran is not the Problem.I've found the film very interesting, especially the history of relations between the US and the Middle East (Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Israel)."IRAN (is not the problem) is a new feature length film responding to the failure of the American mass media to provide the public with relevant and accurate information about the standoff between the US and Iran, as happened before with the lead up to the invasion of Iraq. We have heard that Iran is a nuclear menace in defiance of the international community, bent on "wiping Israel off the map",   read more

The Dark Bailout

By Ganza  in  World & News    World & News

Economics is not my favorite subject mainly because my understanding of it is very limited. However even I understand that the $700 billion bailout is no enough and there should be other steps taken to prevent or rather lessen the effects of the economic crisis. Yet all we her from Bush is "Give "Wallstreet&quo t; $700 billion and everything will be alright" Yeah if only economic crises were that easy to handle. If only.   read more

"The Russians are right! We're wrong! Georgia started it, the Russians ended it." words I never expected to hear from an American congressman.Republic an congressman Dana Rohrbacher said the the situation in Georgias breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia was analogous to Kosovo which was part of Serbia until it declared independence in February with US support. Saying that there's no correlation "undermines our credibility" he said. Here's the full article   read more

The one with the Humvees

By Ganza  in  Travel & Places    Politics & Social Issues

Read an article about the US humvees that were captured by Russia in Georgia. Apparently 5 US humvees were captured by the Russian troops in Georgia. Gen. James T. Conway has issued a statement saying Russia should return the Humvees or pay for them. "I think we're going to send the Russians a bill and tell them, you know, 'Either pay up or give us back our vehicles, guys" The total value of those 5 humvees is $540,000 Yeah, right. I'm not seeing this happening. I don't think Russia is going to give them back or buy them. Gen. Conway can cry all day but he won't get his toys   read more

Bipolar World

By Ganza  in  Games    Politics & Social Issues

The world is slowly growing apart. The recent conflict in Georgia has shown that the world is becoming bipolar. Russia's actions in this conflict has been condemned by the West and supported by the East. Countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization voiced their support for Russia's actions in in Georgia and South Ossetia following the recent conflict. Now we're seeing a wave of harsh and hasty speeches against Russia. For example British Foreign Secretary David Miliband called for the forming of anti-Russian coalition. Later the same day he said that it's important not to issialate   read more
