Why is everyone trying to ruin a good thing? It saddens me to think I have to live in a time when Europe's Sin capital wants to change its image. Before the legal weed, the sketchy coke dealers and the obnoxious college kids Amsterdam had two things: Prostitutes and the Sailors who loved them. When Amsterdam was a major trading city with a steady stream of Sailors ready to fight, screw or drink anything that came their way - the Red Light District was as they used to say "a necessary evil". Well now the sailors are replaced with American Frat Boys and the worldwide Stoner set - otherwise the situation is about the same. So why change it?Amsterdam is one of my favorite places in the world, even without the drugs. But it's the drugs and the Red Light District that makes Amsterdam the truly magical place that it is. Without the vice, the artists, performers and all the freaky creative people that give A-Dam its color will leave. I see it this way, if you are offended by the rawness of Amsterdam but still want frites, canals and rowhouses why not visit Brugge?
Here is a raw video of Tibetans on horseback, like a band of Cossacks or even Pancho Villa riding into a remote village to declare their freedom from China. I am actually surprised this video made it out due to China's crackdown on media coverage in Tibet.Regardless of where you stand on the Tibet question, you have to have respect for these guys as they face a nuclear power in China with horses, rocks and the occasional hunting rife. I'm not sure the Dalai Lama has anything to do with this - he does not need any involvement. Tibetans are frustrated and no amount of non-violent training
OK so what's pissing me off this morning? Giving people excuses for deplorable actions. Read this little article below on how a 30-year old taught an 11-year old how to smoke crack. Sure that's pretty bad, but then you read of her sob story: 7 kids in foster homes, a family riddled by addiction and a lawyer pleading for her to stay out of prison. First off, why not prison? She taught a kid to smoke crack! They throw people in jail for much less in parts of our country. Another thing that pisses me off - 7 kids, SEVEN! She has custody of none and I doubt she is done screwing low-lifes for crack.
legalized prostitution is great for the city. If they tax them can you imagine how much money the city will get? I think pretty damn much. If they close the RLD (red light district) prostitutes will work illegally so nothing will chance (at least it won't be a positive change
It's not right to close it. I think it should be cleaned up a bit but not closed
