Russia Took the Gold

It was a historic game yesterday as Russia played against Canada. These 2 archrivals played for 4 periods. Ilya Kovalchuk made the final goal 2:42 into overtime and Russia won 5:4. Kovalchuk's goal gave Russia their first gold since 1993 and ended Canada's streak at 17 games. Yesterday, you could hear how the fans were yelling on the streets as Russia scored the final goal.

Got meself a new camera, Laddie

Yesterday a box came with my new Nikon D60 with a 18-55 lense. It's not a great lense but as a spare it'll do just fine. I also got a 8 GB memory card that's more then 600 RAW photos. This is my first camera of this type so it'll take me some time to figure out all the features and settings.

Gay Parade in Riga 2008

On May 31 there was a gay parade in Riga and it didn't go so well. Nobody got hurt during the parade the police kept the protesters away from the gays. Only 200 gays took part in the parade but there were 700 protesters. Here are some videos from the parade.In the interviews some gays said that this shows the scale of intolerance towards gay people in Latvia and some even said that the people are intolerant of blacks. For as long as I've lived here and that's 23 years I've not seen or heard any intolerance or discrimination of gays and especially blacks. Some people here don't like gypsies
