On May 31 there was a gay parade in Riga and it didn't go so well. Nobody got hurt during the parade the police kept the protesters away from the gays. Only 200 gays took part in the parade but there were 700 protesters. Here are some videos from the parade.
In the interviews some gays said that this shows the scale of intolerance towards gay people in Latvia and some even said that the people are intolerant of blacks. For as long as I've lived here and that's 23 years I've not seen or heard any intolerance or discrimination of gays and especially blacks. Some people here don't like gypsies but that's it.
I also agree with the guy in the video. I and many others don't hate gays but parading about it is not a good idea.
Hi everyone. No, no sunsets today, just some photos from all over Latvia, including my room. Here are more swans and on the right there's a baby swan. The tent is near the lake (with the swans) and there were hundreds of dragonflies everywhere.
I'm not saying we shouldn't respect them. I'm saying a person's sexual orientation is not our business and it shouldn't be publicly expressed. Besides these parades cause more problems than they solve. Actually the parades don't solve any problems they just make more.
We need respect all the people no matter their preferences...
